Frequently Asked Questions

Q Why should I fit a burglar alarm?

A Apart from greatly reducing the risk of being burgled it will ensure that if intruders enter they dont stay in your property for more than a couple of minutes. For example, if the intruder wants your DVD machine then he might as well have it - you are insured (arent you). However it seems that in some cases there is a secondary reason - the burglar resents your perceived affluence and takes revenge by causing unnecessary destruction. The intruder is unlikely to stay on the premises while sounders and lights are flashing and the alarm is possibly being relayed to a third party via a communication device.
Q Why should I fit my own burglar alarm?

A The main reason is cost. You can make massive savings by fitting your own alarm. The other main reason is the fact that you are in control of the alarm system - you will have all the manuals, all the codes and will know exactly how the system is wired and programmed. As such, if a fault develops then you will be able to fix it - rather than having to call out the (expensive) alarm engineer.
Q Does fitting an alarm require a lot of technical know-how?

A No! any competent DIY enthusiast can fit an alarm to a good standard. Like any other project, the first time is the most demanding and that is why we would recommend temporarily setting it up on your kitchen table to get to understand how everything works together.
Q Will I get reduced contents insurance because I have fitted an alarm?

A Unfortunately not. Reduced insurance (around 10 percent) is only given on properties whose alarm is fitted by one of their approved registered installers e.g. NACOSS approved installers. The approved installers are very expensive and you will be tied into their maintenance scheme. It could take years to recoup the cost by the reduction in your insurance.
Q If I have difficulty fitting my alarm, can I get help from you?

A yes, we offer full technical support on all our products by e-mail or telephone.
Q What guarantees/warranties does the equipment have?

A We offer a full no-quibble 12 month guarantee on all our products. Where the manufacturers guarantee exceeds this we will honour their guarantee.
Q I have ordered more equipment than I need, can I return it and get a refund?

A Yes, but you will have to pay the carriage costs and we will levy a 10 percent handling charge.
Q I already have a burglar alarm, can I add to it?

A Almost certainly yes, although some older systems may cause problems and some wireless sytems use frequencies that are obsolete.
Q I need a manual for my existing alarm, can you help?

A We can supply User guides for all the Control Panels we sell, Installation manuals may be subject to a handling charge. e-mail us for details.
